Terms of use
Last updated 29 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Techup Studio, who make Abonten. By using Abonten you agree to them, so please read them. Our privacy policy explains what we do with your data.
Your account
- You must be 18 or over to use Abonten.
- Use your real name, and keep your sign-in details to yourself. You're responsible for what happens on your account.
- One account per person.
Joining events
Abonten connects people who organise events with people who want to go. Organisers run their events; we don't. Check the details before you join, and look after yourself when meeting people you don't know.
When you join you get a spot on a date. The exact address appears once your spot is confirmed, and you show your code at the door to check in.
Paying and refunds
- Prices are in Ghana cedis. You pay at checkout through our payment provider, by mobile money or card.
- Each paid event shows its refund policy before you pay: either no refunds, or refunds until 24 hours before it starts.
- If you cancel within the policy, you get back everything you paid, fees included. Outside the policy, you can still cancel but there's no refund.
- If the organiser cancels a date, or changes its time or place after you joined, you get a full refund (after a change, if you cancel before it starts).
- Nobody can cancel once a date has started.
- If a date didn't happen, report it in the app within 48 hours of its end. We'll look into it, and if it didn't happen everyone who paid is refunded in full.
- Refunds go back to the way you paid and can take a few days to arrive.
Organising
- Anyone can organise free events.
- To charge for an event you must pass our ID check, be 18 or over, and add a Ghana mobile money number registered in the name on your ID.
- Describe your event honestly, and make sure it can go ahead safely and legally. You're responsible for your event and the people you invite.
- You're paid for each date after it has happened and the 48-hour report window has passed without a report. If someone reports it, we review it first.
- You receive the ticket price less Abonten's fee. The fee is shown when you price an event and applies to every ticket on that event. We may change the fee for events published later, and we'll tell you first.
- If you cancel a date, or we find it didn't happen, everyone who paid is refunded and you aren't paid for it. We may suspend organisers whose events don't happen.
- Any tax on what you earn is yours to sort out.
What's not allowed
- Anything illegal, or events that put people at risk.
- Harassment, threats, hate, or sexual content aimed at others.
- Scams, fake events, pretending to be someone else, or taking payment for something you won't deliver.
- Spam, or misusing Abonten: copying its data, breaking its security or getting round its limits.
You can report an event, a person or a message in the app, and block anyone. We look at every report and may remove content or suspend accounts.
What you post
What you post stays yours. You let us show it in Abonten, and public events on the Abonten website, so the service can work. Don't post anything you don't have the right to share.
Our part
We work to keep Abonten running and safe, but we provide it as it is. We aren't responsible for what organisers or attendees do, or for what happens at events, except where the law says we are. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under Ghanaian law.
Ending things
You can delete your account at any time, once any refunds in progress, events you're organising and money due to you are settled. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.
Changes and the law
When we change these terms we update the date at the top, and tell you in the app before an important change applies. These terms are governed by the laws of Ghana.
